Product Care
-
Overtime Waterproof clothing can lose its water repellency as dirt and oil break down the durable water-repellant coating. If you notice that the fabric of your jacket is absorbing rather than repelling water, it means you'll have to reproof it.
-
Our Drywalks products are fully machine washable up to 30 degrees but it's often easier to simply wipe down or hose off with a damp cloth. For grease-based marks, spot clean with a bit of washing-up liquid. Never use biological washing powder/liquid or fabric softener/conditioner.
-
Step 1
To keep your Drywalks coat performing at its best, we recommend washing it with Grangers Performance Wash. This safely removes dirt without affecting the waterproof coating. Avoid using harsh detergents or fabric softeners, as these can damage the fabric’s performance.
Step 2
Gently brush off any mud, rinse off any thick dirt by hand, or for stubborn stains apply some of the Performance Wash directly onto the garment with a sponge before washing.
Step 3
Fasten all zips and velcro and place in the machine.
Step 4
Shake bottle and pour 100ml of the liquid into the washing machine drawer. For dog coats the amount can be reduced as per manufactures instructions on the bottle.
Step 5
Wash on a full cycle at 30°C/86°F or according to care label instructions.
Step 6
We recommend spinning the coat twice to ensure all excess water is removed.
Step 7
We recommend using Grangers Performance Repel Plus reproofing spray - this must be applied whilst the garment is damp. Spray the entire garment and focus on areas prone to abrasion. Remove any excess product with a clean cloth.
Step 8
It is vital that after washing, you give your garment time to fully dry in a warm, well ventilated room, or tumble dry on a low heat setting (check the garment frequently to avoid overheating).
Avoid placing them near or on direct heat sources (like radiators), or exposing them to direct sunlight, as this can damage the fabric and its waterproof properties.
-
Avoid over-washing, as frequent laundering can wear down the waterproof coating.
We recommend re-proofing your waterproof garments every few months, or whenever water stops beading on the surface. Before applying the re-proofer, wipe away any excess dirt and dampen the garment to ensure the treatment is absorbed evenly.

When wearing your Drywalks coat for walking, make sure the coat is comfortable and not under strain when bending, crouching, or lifting your dog. Open the main front zip slightly when stretching or bending to avoid putting pressure on the zip.
If this is your first time using this style of zip, please take a moment to review our guide below. Practicing a few times will help you get a smooth and effortless zip every time.
Step 1
Place both zip sliders at the bottom of the zip.
Step 2
Insert the free zip edge in to the very bottom slider.
Step 3
Make sure it’s completely inserted, sitting firmly in the slider. You should feel a soft click when its in place.
Step 4
Pull up the top slider to close the zipper.
Step 5
Pull the bottom slider up when needed for bending /climbing etc.
-
To clean your zip, a pin, a clean brush or even the hoover can be use to remove mud or grit.
If your zip is jamming, your Drywalk's product may benefit from a thorough wash to clean the zipper. Please refer to our washing instructions for guidance on how to do.
Never force the slider because you are likely to break it. Once clean we recommend using a bit of silicon spray to really free it up. -
- Drying after use: If your coat is wet, either tumble dry on a low heat or hang it on a sturdy coat hanger in a warm, well-ventilated space. Always let it dry thoroughly before wearing again.
- Storing: When not in use, store your Drywalk's coat on a hanger in a dry, shaded area away from direct heat sources.
You can store it in the bag provided, but only once the coat is fully dry. To double-check your coat is dry, open the discreet zip inside the arm and feel between the layers - if it’s dry inside, it’s ready to store. - Top tip: Always hang by the shoulders using a coat hanger rather than by the hood or inner hanging loop, as this keeps the shape perfect.
This simple routine keeps the technical fabric fresh, prevents odours, and ensures your Drywalk's coat is always ready to perform at its best.

Yes, storing your waterproof coat in a damp or humid environment can affect its performance over time. Moisture can encourage mould or mildew growth and may degrade the waterproof coating. To keep your coat in top condition, always ensure it is fully dry before storing it in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated space.
