There’s no better feeling than walking through the door after a hard days graft’ and being greeted by your favourite four-legged friend. If only they could be with you all day right? Well maybe they can?!
‘Take Your Dog To Work Day’ was first celebrated in 1999 and since then many employers have clocked-on to the benefits of having furry friends at work.
Research has shown having a dog in the office can reduce stress, boost productivity and improve morale.
The advantages of a pup-friendly workplace are not only for dog-owners. Pup-less co-workers also reap the benefits of a pooch-friendly working environment. A recent study revealed that 70% of people felt that dogs alleviate stress in the workplace and suggested that pets enhance the social atmosphere at work.
We are BIG on puppy pals joining us at Drywalks HQ so here are our 5 top tips for introducing four-legged co-workers to your place of work:
- Make sure your pooch has a collar & ID tag so everyone in the office can identify them. (Or if they decide to wander off)
- Purchase a dog bed, dog bowls, treats and poo bags to keep at the office. This way you only need to remember the pup!
- Set reminders for regular outdoor breaks. This might be something your non-dog owning colleagues would like to help with too!
- Ensure your work space is dog-friendly. Remove anything potentially harmful that your pup might chew or eat. Bins with lids are a MUST.
- Before you take your canine to work, it is important to establish if your dog will be comfortable in that particular setting. Take them along to check out your workspace and meet your co-workers.
